Hi, I have just purchased a multimedia player which supports avi, mpeg4 and mpeg1 and mpv video files. Unfortunately, the handbook states that it will only support files converted in ulead video toolbox (great, it is supplied). Oh a***, it is only supported by PC's.
Can anyone recommend a file converter to use instead?
Cheers, Phil

Hi there Phil, (and welcome if I haven't already said so)

What make and model player have you got ?

We can have a look at tthe manual then for a little more info.

QuickTime Pro is relatively cheap and converts most formats.

Hi Ric,
the player is a vivitar dmd p20. I have discovered that it plays psp files but am not sure why it will not play mpeg4 files (aren't they the same?). When i encode to mpeg4, the mac will play them but the player says that there is a file content error. The problem I am having with psp encoding is that the picture is tiny, a file i downloaded ages ago to try and unstick blocked pixels plays full screen. Why?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Phil
p.s. the player supposedly supports:
mpeg4, motion jpeg(avi), mpeg1(mpg, dat) and wmv.

unfortunately, can't seem to get the ****er to play any of them.

success!, I have used ffmpegx to encode in mpeg4 and it works, the only slight query is that the voices sound really deep, is this due to the audio settings which are set at:
audio bitrate: 96 kbit/s
sampling: 48000 Hz
channels: stereo
Mode: CBR

Many thanks for your time and advice Ric (and anyone else)

I'm glad you've got it working...

I'm not sure what the best Audio encoding would be ?
