external ssd died and cloned ssd is now being used ......cant access imessage or app store " error occurred" is what comes from the apple pass word portal.........also needing to clone new ssd to keep current and need to make sure that contacts app, 'no cards' doesnt come up blank as did the current clone ssd did......

How was the clone created in the first place? What is in the internal SSD? What version of macOS are you running, and for that matter, what model/configuration Mac is this?

Did you use Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper!, Chronosync, another app, or maybe Finder? APFS or HFS+. Have you ever refreshed/reinstalled Mojave 10.14.6? How about Time Machine backup(s)?

ccc dont use TM due to having back up ssd that gets updated regulaly....reinstalled mojave on the imac hd after main external ssd failure .......
