While running the anti virus software AVAST happen to switch off the mac in between & when restarted, got a blank screen in white without any action for long.... So tried various options as mentioned in the manual for the particular issue, but no luck, afterwhich also tried installing the OS.... As the harddisk wasn't traced for installation tried verifying & repairing the disk through disk utility, first aid mode, at that point of time stared getting this message Error:The underlying task reported failure on exit.

Would appreciate your help to fix this problem.
