Hi teapot,

not sure if this is what you mean...

But command+e will eject disks.

You can also use F12 or the eject key depending on your keyboard.

You can also go to this folder...

System: Library: CoreServices: Menu Extras.

Inside that folder, double-click on the icon called Eject.menu.

Now look at your menu bar, and you'll find the new Eject icon. Use it as a menu and choose the drive you'd like to eject.

Hi Ric
Many thanks
What I have is an externaql Lacie DVD drive, I was wondering if there is a way that would enable me to use some form of shortcut to operate the tray. It is a bit of a bore having to reach over everything to push a button on the drive.
It is great now that I can now eject the onboard superdrive from the menu bar but that is as far as it goes. As for f12 I have redesignated that for functions within Final Cut Studio. I say again many thanks for your input
Regards
