:(
I deleted Adobe Reader 5.0 and upgraded to 7.0. Made 7.0 the default.
Then my DVD wouldn't work.
I reinstalled Adobe Reader 5.0 - selected it as default
I repaired permissions with disc utility
Tried deleting com.apple.finderplist pref - no change
I click on DVD app and get message there was an initialization error, a valid DVD drive could not be found [-70012]
What to do?
The DVD slot loader will not accept a DVD
please Help please
Thanks,
Mark

Hi there,

you could try and delete these files

com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist

It's in Users/yourusername/Library/preferences

and the same name in

Library/preferences

If that doesn't work it might be worth getting rid of any files that have DVD in their name in the Library/receipts folder

then restart and then run software update and it should redownload any DVD player updates...

give it a go and let us know...

Well, Ric, it worked! I also changed back to Acrobat Reader 5.0 as the default, though I'm not sure that mattered. What does matter is your very excellent advice worked and I very much appreciate that. Thank you!

All my best,

Mark
