Connect MacBook Pro to TV

D

dick

Greetings,

Has someone actually connected a MacBook pro to a TV that has both s-video and RCA jacks?

I have the adapter that came in the box with the MBP & can connect that to the machine. But what does Apple (or someone else) have that can make the connection from that adapter to the TV?

The mini-DVI found here http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/1.RSLID?mco=75A42EE8&nplm=M9319G/A isn't the one to use as there is no way to connect the mini-DVI tp the MBP or to the adapter that came in the box.

Thanks,
dick

Hey Dick, I am not sure if I understand you correctly. If you have a MacBook Pro, a mini-DVI connection won't work. The MacBook Pros don't have an S-Video connection. I think you bought the wrong adaptor. Look at this adaptor and see if this is the one you need. Sorry if I am not clear on what you are saying. :( Please correct me if I am not understanding you correctly.

Greetings Searay,

You are correct -- I have the wrong dongle and the link you provided leads to the correct one.

Thanks for your help.

On this thought, I have a MacBook and I connected it to an older Panasonic TV via a Mini DVI adapter to an S Video cable to a SCART adapter in the TV. I live in Ireland, thus the SCART.

I only got a Black and White image. Also, there is some quality loss.

How do I get a color image? Is there a better way to get better quality?

Can I go from the Mini DVI to SVGA adapter to an SVGA to SCART plug?

Any ideas?
