Hi, I'm new to mac & need help. My system is an old powermac G4 667mhz (digital audio). I just changed my original AGP graphic card to a new Ati Radeon 9200 PCI for extended dual monitor. But I can't go into Final cut pro, the messages are - Configuration error. "software require hardware or software which is missing. - AGP graphic card.
Is there any setting if i switch from AGP to PCI ? OS is Tiger.
Thank you.

Hi Ric, Thanks for fast reply.
I checked the technical features table you gave, on the video column is Rage 128pro Agp. Is that mean it is not supported ? Is the position of the slot matter ? I installed the PCI graphic on the extreme left near to hard disk drive. Is there any setting at the display or at final cut pro ? Thanks again Ric.

Hi there,

...on the video column is Rage 128pro Agp

In the columns...which one is your Mac ?

Quick question...is the "Ati Radeon 9200 " the only card you've got plugged in ? Does it visually work, is your monitor plugged in to it ?

Hi Ric,
Mine is G4 667 digital audio.
There are 4 PCI slots, used up two slots, one is ATI graphic and the other is ultra scsi card (originally there) It does work but except for FCP (ver. 4). Yes, the mponitors were plugged in.

Thanks, should have seen that in your first post ;-)

Right from what I can tell you need to 'hack' FCP...

This page has more info

In essence you need to...

1) Backup (Duplicate the Final Cut PRo App somewhere else, first !)

2) Control-Click on the Final Cut Pro application and select show package contents.

3) Open the contents folder and open info.plist.

4) Search for AGP replace it with PCI.

5) Save and close the file.

Open FCP and it should now work ?

Hi Ric,

It works:):):) fantastic..
greatly appreciated for your help.

one more question,
this model doesn't support hard drive above 128gb.
Is it advisible to use a firewire encloser with higher capacity hd ?
will it affect the video quality, frame rate, slower transfer rate etc...
Thanks

Hi there,

sorry didn't spot the other question...

Depends how far you want to go...I use Firewire 400 drives for capturing DV from a camcorder and haven't had any problems...

...if you want faster speed you could add a PCI SATA card int o you Mac and get a SATA hard drive...should be fast enough !

If you go down the Firewire external route, go for the fastest spin you can get, probably 7200 rpm, not the 5000 ones.
