Clean Install help please...

Hi all,

I need to wipe the hard drive and install a new OS (10.4.6) from the original discs that came with my Mac Book Pro 17". Trouble is the superdrive won't read the discs (or any discs) and just spits them out.

A friend has offered me the use of an external CD drive and / or a Mac Mini. I seem to remamber something about using "target mode" to read drives from one mac via another. (?)

Any advice on how I can clean install the OS onto the Mac Book much appreciated

You box should start from you superdrive ? put your disc in close down you computer hold down the "C" key and start up, it should running from you disc, from there you can format you HD under Utilities/hd utilities then install you system files
