Can I still use 9.6 system with Tiger? Leopard?

I have a 933MHz PowerPC G4 with 10.3.9 that I can also run with OS 9.6. I do this only because I have a large-format Epson printer that Epson declined to write new driver for and I've tried workarounds but none have the same quality of control. My question is, I've upgraded my G4 Titanium laptop to Tiger and now that I have an i-phone it would be nice to be able to upgrade the tower too. But I can't lose the 9.6 operating. I've heard that Leopard may not support 9.6 but have not heard same about Tiger. Anyone have 9.6 and Tiger or Leopard installed successfully? Thanks!
