Basic functions are stumping me

I think the last time I was on a Mac was in the earl 90s. So, i have some questions.

1. First if we're all new, how can we help each other?

1. Where and how do I uninstall a program. Mistakely order a financial program that is only a demo.

2. How do I redeem a ITune gift card? So far when I try tobuy a song it wants to charge my credit card.

3. What are the icon on the right side of the desktop for? Of course if I knew how to do a screenshot, I could show someone.

so, number 4, how do I do a screenshot?

1. I use an application called Uninstaller to uninstall my programs (Apps). Here's some additional info-

2. Redeeming an iTunes allowance, gift certificate, or gift card:
If you received an iTunes Store allowance, gift certificate, iTunes Gift Card, or promotional code, you can use it to buy songs, videos, or audiobooks from the iTunes Store.

If you don't have an iTunes Store account, you need to create one first. You don't need to enter credit card information to redeem only the amount of a gift certificate or card.

To use an allowance, choose Store > Sign In.

To use an iTunes gift certificate or iTunes Gift Card:


In iTunes, click iTunes Store (below Store).


Below Account, click Gift Certificate or iTunes Gift Card and follow the onscreen instructions.

The amount in your account appears to the right of your account name. As you make purchases (by clicking a Buy button), the amount changes to show how much money you have left to spend.

You can use a gift certificate only in the iTunes Store for the same country in which the certificate was purchased.
3. We need a screenshot.
4. To take a screenshot click on the command, shift and 3 keys.
