Airport express and comcast cable internet

when i plug in the ethernet cable to my computer from the cable box, everything seems fine but once i plug the cable into my airport express, i cannot get any internet access.
airport seems to work fine with green light and full signal. anyone who could help me with my short coming would be much appreciated.

If you connect to the Airport using Airport Utility from your Mac, make sure it's set to Internet over Cable, DHCP etc?

Does your cable provider deal with MAC adresses (not Mac as in Macintosh)?
