Where is the flash card.

Firstly everything was fine whilst using Yosemite,but since loading Capitan its not.For my iMac to talk to my audio amplifier I used a flash card and download the information onto the iMac,it downloaded fine.But I cannot find the dmg file anywhere to open it.I have been trying for about 5 weeks now.As I said earlier the flash card download in Yosemite but not Capitan.I think there might be a problem with Capitan.If there is an answer please make it simple as I have a very small brain.Regards

-Which model Mac?
-When you say flash card, do you mean a USB flash drive?
-What brand/model is the audio amplifier? How is it connected - USB?
