I forced quit safari and deleted cookies to purge the CSA/NSA virus. Now I get advertising windows (mackeeper/verizon fios/bing rewards, etc) that automatically open up on my screen every time I open open a window in a new tab. This never happened before. How do I stop it? Thanks

Hello and welcome.
Try this:
1. Close Safari
2. Hold the Shift key down and launch Safari
3. Then in the menu bar go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy and click the Remove All Website Data... button and click Remove Now
4. Make sure you enable Block Pop-Up Windows again
NOTE: Step 3 will also delete all stored website passwords, so you will have to re-enter them when visiting any site that you login to.
Let us know if this doesn't fix the issue.
