spilled water

hey i accidently spilled water due to being clumsy on my macbook pro. it was working fine and then the sound went out. so i restarted..i can hear the power up sound but when i go to test it the sound isnt working..if the speakers are actually broken why can i hear the start up sound? how does that make any sense?

Hello and welcome.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Unfortunately, it sounds as if the water may have found it's way onto the logic board and may have fried the sound circuitry.

It is strange that you can hear the startup chime however.

-If you change the volume, does it make the sound?
-Do you have any headphones or speakers you can plug into the audio port to see if they work?
