Picture showing up in change background, not in folder

Hi,

I go into my change background function on Mac OS X and there are two photos that show up as being on my desktop, but aren't visible to being on my desktop. They are titled ".." and "..2". I have searched for them and cannot find them, I have done the view all files in the terminal and still nothing.

Can someone give me some help please, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Could you please explain this a bit more? Exactly what steps you used?

You have enabled "make invisible files visible", is this what you did?

files that start with "." are hidden.

ls -alt will show them in terminal

Is there a way to delete them in the terminal? Or change the name of them? I have found them but, it has been ages since I have messed with terminal. Thank you for the help.
