Hello, I'm running OSX 10.3.9 and after recently trying to install a digital camara printer, my Emac couldn't see the CD icon and also the keyboard eject button wouldn't work. When I try to use the eject on the OS it can't see the drive. System profiler however can see it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi there and welcome !

Would I be correct in assuming there is a CD still inside the Mac ?

...if there is.

Then try opening iTunes and pressing the eject CD icon in iTunes...that normally ejects most disks.

If that doesn't work reboot and hold down the Mouse Button, this should eject the CD...

Ric - theres no CD in the drive.

The funny thing is if I boot the mac in OS 9.2 the keyboard eject then works and the CD can be seen on the desktop. If I then leave the CD in the drive and reboot to OSX
the icon doesn't appear on the OSX desktop and the keyboard eject doesn't work again!

Okay..

So when in OS X the Mac won't see this CD, does it see any CD or is it just this one ?

Thanks,

First try a "Repair Permissions"...

Applications-->Utilities-->Disk Utility

Then click on the Repair Permissions button

once it's done, then reboot...and try another CD.

Okay...

You could also try running Disk repair...but from the OS X boot disk...

You can also try deleting the Finder Prefs...

Users-->Your Username-->Library-->Preferences-->com.apple.finder.plist
