Deleted encrypted private data keychains, how do I restore?

Macbook Pro, 10.6.8. I was attempting to delete only a couple of the unused keychains and somehow deleted them all. My system passwords are fine, but my private passwords and certs are gone. I have found posts on how to restore them on newer versions, but that doesn't seem to work on 10.6.8. The passwords should still be around somewhere because when it asks me to create a new chain, it says the old one will only be set aside and not deleted. I just don't know how to find it and restore it. It would be great if someone could walk me through the process. Thanks,

I think this is just a message, when there is a keychain to replace, if you've deleted it then it won't make any difference.
Restore from a backup is the best way.
