I have been tasked with backing up all photos on someone else's old Macbook (10.6.8). I excluded the Pictures folder and any cloud folders from a Spotlight search and came up with about 1700 photos which I moved to the external HD. If I include the Pictures folder in my Spotlight search, over 80,000 images are found, too many to drag and drop in one pass. How can I be sure I am getting all photos moved over to the exHD if I must make passes of 20,000 a time? Is there any way to preserve the existing file structure while doing this so I don't end up with 80,000 images in one folder?
iPhoto only shows around 12,700 images, so if I simply export this, I will not be capturing all photos. There is only one iPhoto library.
I also have to backup Picassa which I was planning on doing via this method:

Tips here would be greatly appreciated as well.
