iPhoto import issue

When I try doing an import, the system has twice imported all the images on the hard drive to my iPhoto Events window. What did I do wrong?

I want to put all my images into a series of folders named with my own labels. When I try to do this, the system seems to wish to make multiple copies of the loaded images and keeps its copy and mine as well. I understand that I can drag image events into each other, but this seems time hungry and dragging each day when I used my digital camera into another folder(event)and then sub nesting that into another folder (event) is getting to be very boring. Can I not just import the whole of my SD card images into a single event more automatically?

Also I have had to delete duplicate images on two occasions now. This was no fun doing it manually with over 2500 image duplicates.

Easy to explain that your PC has a bug.

Its a Mac! I am not a PC. IS this still a viral issue?
