Charger murders

Melodramatic title I know, but I'm having some issues with my MacBook pro. It's 2 1/4 years old. Bought sept 2007. Yesterday I noticed my charger light wasn't coming on and my laptop wouldn't charge. Seemed obvious the charger was broken so I borrowed my brothers which worked fine. Left overnight to find in the morning his charger was not working either, on any of the MacBooks we have.

I have since changed the fuse on his charger, once plugged Back into his computer (a late 2008 MacBook) the light flashes Amber now. Firstly what does this mean? And could my computer have had anything to do with his battery stopping working?

I'll be visiting the apple store asap but need some info to stop him murdering me.
