recording video streaming

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can advise me on how to record a live video stream from the web. I am able to watch live sports matchs but some are past my bed time and would like to watch them later.
Any ideas?

Here are a couple of suggestions:

The first, http://www.longfingers.com/qtvrrecorder, might be able to take your stream and redirect it to a DV file.

And http://www.freecast.org might be able to do the same thing.

The place I looked was http://freshmeat.net, one of the better Open Source repositories. You might also check http://sourceforge.net.

To add to Steven's excellent suggestions...

What software do you use to watch the video stream ? Does that have the ability to "record" ?

Some streams, are impossible to record 'conventionally' because of the copyright protection...

Even though you may be able to record...playback is sometimes impossible because of the 'protection' built in...

Another way of doing may be to use something Like Snapz Pro... I have it and will give it a try...not sure successful it will be ?
