internal (now external w/ enclosure) not recognized

i pulled out my old data storage hard drive (secondary drive strictly for photos, movies, and music) from my pc. i put it in a rocketfish usb enclosure (ata) and i can't get my macbook to recognize it. any help will be greatly appreciated as this is where i have many photo's stored.
