External Display 1650x1050

Hy!
I've connected a 1680x1050 monitor to my new MacBook Pro over the VGA adapter.
While at lower resolutions it works fine, when set the monitor on its original resolution, the signal becomes scrambled...
I tried both video cards...
Any ideas why this is happening?

If the monitor can handle DVI (and you have an adapter for it, or the MacBook has a DVI connector), try using that instead... VGA isn't really made for resolutions above 1024x768, though it works the quality gets worse and worse as the resolution gets larger, not to mention that you first convert the signal from digital to analog at the computer, then back from analog to digital at the monitor.
