i might be the biggest idiot ever

in my sincere and incomplete (for i am sure there is worse to come) naivety i inserted a cd-rom disk into my macbook pro-attempts to retrieve it have succeeded only in deepening the problem and to make matters worse i phoned apple last week to extend my warranty only to be told that it had to be done within the year - of which i am now the wiser. any help for this stupid ... would be very very much appreciated...
