I can't find my scanner.

I just got my first mac product, (MacBook) and I can't seem to get it to recognize or respond to my scanner. I simply want to scan a document and send it as an email attachment, but I don't know where to start.

Hi, congrats on your new MacBook. What type of scanner do you have? Is it one of the 3 in 1 types?

Yes. My printer is an hp psc 1210 xi all in one printer. It print fine but I can't figure out how to scan with it.
