[SOLVED] Shortcuts

I am trying to create shortcuts to folders on my network at work. I can't just drag the folder to my desktop to create an icon. i just want an icon that will go straight to the folders i need on the server. plz help. I am using OS 10.5.4

Hold command and option as you drag the folder or a file to create an alias, (what's called a "shortcut" on windows).
