hi all. I have an old ibook g4. I put a new hard drive in recently and its been operating fine. it had a knock that broke the screen hinges and rendered the screen unusable, so Ive been using an external monitor.

that was fine, until today, when suddenly the screen switched to vertical bands. Its completely useless, no trace of the desktop left - the whole screen is now just brown, white, blue and cream vertical bands. its kaputt.

I switched it off, it booted up fine. i tried to open firefox, but it wouldnt open, nor would finder.

so turned it off for a few minutes, to leave it cool down, and tried again.
Firefox opened and everything was fine for about 15 mins, but then it just reverted to the vertical lined useless screen.

any suggestions? im thinking maybe wipe the drive, or mabe its a graphics card?

thanks in advance,
ned .
