Won't update

My imac g3 wont update and when I try to download something it seys the program that created this can not be found Help please

Could you please provide more information? What program are you trying to install, for example? Also, did you check to make sure that such program is indeed where it should be, i.e., inside the Applications folder?

In the meantime, it might be a good idea to run Disk Utility and repair permissions. Sometimes that simple maintenance routine can solve a lot of common Mac problems.

Its operating system is os 9. Someone gave it to me and it did have an external hardrive. I think it had some important files on it.
