External HD not mounting after improper removal

Intel Macbook Leopard. Accientally removed the USB cable for my external HD and now it will not remount. Have tried it on other computers but no luck. Any suggestions?

does Disk Utility see the drive ?

Applications-->Utilities Disk Utility
