blurry iMac screen

Hello all,

I recently started a new job with a computer that is less than ideal. It's an blue and grey iMac running OS 9.2 with a blurry screen. The screen stays consistently blurry the whole time. The resolution is set to 800 x 600; when I increase it, things do get sharper (and a WHOLE LOT smaller).

Is there a display setting that I can change so I can see things a little better? The tech guy at work is not so bright.

Hi there and welcome,

The only thing you can do is change the resolution in the Monitor Control Panel...this is what you have been doing already.

The chances are that because it's quite an old Computer the screen is probably not at its best.

The 'more' or 'higher' resolution you go to the smaller some things will appear on screen, but they should get sharper.

The larger the number the more 'space you will have on your desktop.

If it's really bad they should not make you use it !

regards

Ric

Yes as bluekatt says 'degausing' may help...

On this Mac, just physically turn it off at the plug after doing a shutdown...(not doing a restart !) and then rebooting will invoke a Degaus...

cant you also manually invoke a degauss ?
i vaugly remember it being an option in a control panel but my memory is hazy on classic
( in other words i avoid it like the plauge\win 3.11 unless i absolutley have to use it )
