No sound from i-dock

I am having trouble with the i-dock for i-pod. When i connect the dock to my stereo via the 3.5mm line on the dock I get no sound. If i connect via the 3.5mm line on the i-pod (the headphone socket) I get perfect sound. Is there anything I need to do or is it likely to be a hardware issue with the dock?

The dock works in all other respects, i.e. it charges and the remote control works perfectly.

What type of i-Dock is it , there seems to be lots of different products called i-Dock ?

It's is brand new and has not worked during the hour or so I've spent trying to make it work.
I'm not sure of the make, I can check tonight. It is not by apple though.

Hi Brad,

if it's the type I think it is then I would take it back to the shop, and get them to replace with another one...sounds like it's defective.

You should just plug it in and off it goes...
