so i just got my brand new apple wireless keyboard in the mail. hooking it up to an 07 imac. everythings fine except that the top buttons are crossed up.

by that i mean:

F12= dashboard (but says volume up)
F11=Takeaway all windows (but says volume down)
F10=expose (but says mute)

F1 & F2 say brighten and darken screen but don't work, makes screen "flash"
F4 = has a picture of a gas gauge (dashboard) but doesn't work, makes screen "flash"

its like it functions like my old keyboard (the one that came with the imac) with different symbols.

and i can't find a button that works to put the volume up or down.

any insight would be great.

thx

Hi Jessiah,

Try going into the "Dashboard & Exposé" panel in System Preferences. Look to make sure that your keyboard shortcuts for those keys (F9 to F12) aren't set to perform exposé functions. Otherwise it is likely that they are overriding the other functions that you want them to have.

I'm having the same problem!!! I can't figure out for the life of me how to fix this! I tried what you suggested Muirdach, but all that did was made those "F" keys do absolutely nothing.

I've been suffering this problem for a while and after MUCH googling, finally found the answer.

Go to the apple website and download "Keyboard Software Update 1.2"

Kudos to this page: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles...um.html&page=2 for putting me on the right track.

Hope that helps!

TJ
