iPod Shuffle

Posting for my roommate's boss

She has a windows machine (no idea what OS she is operating). She has the latest iTunes software and has a first generation iPod Shuffle. When she tries to sync it to her machine, she gets an error formatting message. Cannot Format message. Any ideas what could be wrong? My roommate will be talking with her tomorrow. So I should have more specific information. But if any of you have any ideas, please let me know ASAP!

if the standard five r's don't work then get them to download this to reset the Shuffle

Hey Ric, I have more details for you!

The error message is error 1418 cannot restore iPod.

Thoughts?

She still needs to try the 5Rs and such. We will still give those a shot.

Thanks Kyomii! I found that link to through google, but wasn't sure if I'd advise it just yet to see if the 5Rs will work.

Personally, my first step would be to try the reset utility for the shuffle now you are getting that error and take it from there.
