cant get printer to print...

we got a macbook last dec and hooked up our hp deskjet 3500 printer from the harddrive which worked without any problem. i recently found our software that came with the printer and stupidly thought I should download it. But it didn't print and I tried to take it off. Now we can't get our printer to work at all and we have tried to go through the systems preferences and delete the original printer and add it back on. There is no option now for the hp3500 series and nothing else is working. Anyone with an idea????
Please help. we are desparate!!

Hi there and welcome !

so at the moment you have deleted the printer ? Is that correct ?

The printer driver would have already been installed with the OS, thats where the confusion has come from.

You can try Print Setup Repair, that may help.

You can pop you OS X install DVD in and do a Archive and Install to get it to put back on the 'supplied' drivers. Or use Pacifist to just install the drivers only from the DVD.
