trouble with moving folder

I am installing a local host of Joomla 2.5 on my iMac24. I've got XAMPP loaded and tested. Instructions say to download Joomla, then move it to the htdoc folder and unzip it.

However, it unzips as soon as it downloads and the folder refuses to be moved from downloads to htdocs. Nor will Finder allow me to create a new subfolder in htdocs where I may be able to move the unzipped files to (says I don't have authorization).

Rather stuck after looking all over for help on this matter.

Just a stab in the dark but check the Prefs of your web browser to ensure that "open safe files when download complete" isn't enabled, this should allow you to change the location of the .zip file.

As for the authorisation issue you just might need to install it from an Admin account. Does your account have Admin rights?

For the record it's strongly advised that for everyday use a Mac users account should be of a Standard variety, for security reasons. If you are already using this strategy then log out of your account and log into the Admin account and authorise your everyday Standard account to administer your Mac with Admin rights in System Prefs ~> Users & Groups.

Hope this helps
