Can Lion recognize a partitioned external drive formatted as NTSF?

My lovely 82 year old mom-in-law bought me a 2T Seagate that I want to use to back up both my PC and Mac on different partitions.

I already have the PC backed up, Mac so far can't see the drive.

Any suggestions?

The Mac can read but can't write native to NTFS.

Actually, my MacBook took over the NTFS formatted partition and changed it to its preference and very politely backed up my data. Thanks for the input.

Have you seen if it still works for your PC? Unless you simplified the details a lot, that didn't make sense...

The PC Volume on the partitioned drive works fine. Sorry if I confused anyone. My original concern was whether or not my MAC could write to the NTFS format. It does.
