...without adding lots more software to your Mac !

These are two good Apps that help 'see' what is taking up space.

Hi sue,

you have plenty of free space...

I would probably try and reboot with the original OS cd (or dvd) in (hold down the c key)

then from the menu bar select Disk Utility and do a repair disk and repair permisions.

let us know if you're not sure what we mean.....

regards

Ric

Hi Sue,

The OS X Tiger DVD.

If you are unsure I'll post a few screen grabs tomorrow.

Hi Ric, I tried installing Tiger and it would not install because of errors. i got a message: Cannot install on OSX (13. 6 GB - 350 MB free) without changing install settings. Click options to change settings. A newer version of MACOSX is installed.
HD (5.0 GB - 3.4 GB free) this software requires 3.7 GB. you have selected to upgrade OSX on this volume.
I think I will wait and let you help me through this!
Kind regards, Sue

Hi Sue,

you have me a bit worried !!!

What type of install have you tried to do ?

You weren't meant to be reinstalling, just booting from the disk and then from the menubar running disk utility...

Is all you data backed up ?

regards

Ric

Hi Ric,
No, I don't have everything backed up. Now I'm worried.
Can you hold my hand through this?
