JC, thanks for the response.
The problem did infact solve itself shortly after I installed the
latest update for the nano.
The nano would stop playing after 45 min and would not turn back on.
Not even after a full night of charging. I would have to use the hard
reset feature on the nano. And anytime I turned it off, I had to do
the same. Then iTunes detected I had a problem and offered to fix it
for me. I let it try and it completely dicked up all the data on the
nano. Only a few books survived and a few hundred songs.
So I took iTunes up on its offer to restore my drive to Factory
settings (which included nuking all my music, books and pics.)
So at this point I had little to lose.
I told it to restore and after about a hour of it restoring, telling
me nano had a problem, trying to fix it, restoreing and just looping,
I just unpluged the damn thing and left it alone.
I put data back on it after once again doing a hard reset and it seems
to be working now for the moment. Have not listened to it for more
then a few mins.
It seems I now have to hold down the on button for several seconds
to turn the nano on/off - different than before the upgrade.
Really hope this fixes the problem.
I was happy to give Apple a try since I had such poor luck with the
(much easier to use) Sansa pieces of ****. I hope the apple nano
proves to be a much better product.
Again, thanks for the response to my request
