Take a look at www.instructables.com where there are several construction
articles on building these.
One is http://www.instructables.com/id/How-...-wall-charger/

Much knowledge to be gained by building instead of buying. It's not the
destination but the journey that makes the difference.

Not if you got the TOOLS (soldering iron, multimeter, solders...) and
TIME!!!

There are pheripherals shops out there in Hong Kong using this
abbreviation.
