It appears the iphone/touch remembers all WiFi spots ever connected.

Is there a way to see it's list of SSID's. I'd liked to delete some and
edit others

Thanks

Terri

the short answer is no.

unfortunately, the only way to delete a network is have it show up (or
one with the same name) and then tap the forget this network button in
the configuration panel.

the long answer is you can extract the appropriate .plist file from a
backup and look at the list of networks. if you have jailbroken the
phone, you can edit it and copy it back (and get the file itself
directly).

The short answer is yes, but you need to jailbreak your iphone, and ssh
into it nd hunt for the file that contains this. I had found it a while
ago, but don't recall exactly where it is now.

Can't you edit it, return the edited copy to the backup,
and then restore ?

:-)

there's no need to jailbreak unless you want to edit the file.

probably could, but that's easier said than done.

i use an app called iphone backup extractor to get at the individual
backup files, but that only goes one direction. to put an edited file
back, you'd need to figure out which of the thousands of files in the
backup folder is the right one (over 7000 files in mine for reasons i
cannot even begin to fathom), and then copy it back in the proper
format (it's not a .plist in the backup).

i.e., unless you want to do exactly what the OP said
he/she wants to do.

It's also worth noting that you can delete them all (along with other
"stuff") using "Reset Network Settings"

True. And it's equally easy to say, "if you have jailbroken the
phone, you can edit it and copy it back"

Thanks for all the comments. Didn't want to start over, just wanted to
change the SSID but keep the original [manually entered] password which
I''ve now forgotten.
