Can I preserve my precious apps (Final Cut, Etc) while upgrading from 10.3 to 10.5?

I have an older Macpro G5 whose Safari browser fumbles most web sites. Is there a way to upgrade to OS X 10.5.x while preserving apps that I have spent a lot of money on? What I'm most concerned about is that Final Cut Pro 4 will be lost or will not work with the new OS.

I'd check on Apple's Support Forum, but you're on borrowed time with the G5. Ensure you have a good current backup, NOW!

Its a lesson we all need to learn, budget for ongoing upgrades, as this industry constantly moves forward. The good thing is that you can buy a new iMac 27" and FinalCut X for what you paid for FC Pro, back then.
