CD Burning

I have been unable to burn playlists to CD for some time. I am runing iTunes 10.5.1 on OS10.6.8. The CD burn aborts with error message "medium write error". The medium is CD-R 52x 700MB. CD burning used to be so easy on a Mac but I think has gone downhill like much else.

One of my friends had a very similar problem the other day. I fixed her problem by repairing disk permissions. We can see if this works for you.

Go to your applications folder. Scroll down to the bottom and click on the utilities folder. Double click on Disk Utilities. On the left hand side of the window, select your Macintosh HD drive. Make sure the First Aid tab is selected as well. Now click on Repair Disk Permissions down at the bottom of the window. Once that's complete after about 20-30 minutes, restart your computer.

Let me know if this works. It worked for my friend.

You could also try using different discs or slowing down the burn speed.

I found a post on macrumours which suggested reducing the burn speed to x16. This works. Thanks for taking the time to post. Happy holidays!
