I'm Trying to setup a printer on my new iMac running Lion. Instructions I find online to tell me to go to http://localhost:631 which works (takes me to cups admin page). When I go to add printer, or just about any other function - I get an error page that says:
UNAUTHORIZED
Enter your username and password or the root username and password to access this page. If you are using Kerberos authentication, make sure you have a valid Kerberos ticket.

I don't see a login box - What am I missing? Can anyone help me?

I only have one user account set up on my mac.

Thanks,
Rob

The printer(s) are part a windows network. They show up & appear to install but I can't actually print to them (gives error). Most of the help I've found online indicates I should go to the cups web interface to install them - but all of the functions there are giving me the error mentioned. I'm more concerned about why I get the login error without seeing where to actually put in a user/password. Trying to understand how OSx works.

Thanks,
Rob

What you attempting to do must be for a commercial organisation, I recommend getting your local Apple Support company to come in and teach you how to do this as you can spend many hours wasting time and breaking your Macs, and still not get it working. There are far too many Windows/Unix and Mac related variables that effect this.
