I have a Power Book G4 10.4.11 I know it's an antique like me, a 70 yr old woman. I use Firefox 3.6.23. Can’t upgrade it because I don’t have an Intel processor. Been on archives.com all day and suddenly when I try to view a newspaper I get a javascript void (0). I checked Firefox preference and javascript is enabled. I’ve been working with the Just Answer Mac guy for hours and hours. He gave up. Here are some of the things I’ve done:
Firefox cleared
Browsing & Download History
Form and Search History
Cookies (all)
Cache

Switched to Safari (ugh!) same error message

Put the Internet Plugins in the trash-didn’t empty trash

Downloaded and installed Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 9

Went to Firefox and went to the archives.com...lots of steps to replicate that page.. got script void (0) Went to Safari and did the same thing. It stuck even before I got to that page.

Moved all the plugins back to the original folder

Changed the DNS, whatever that is:
https://store.opendns.com/setup/oper...pple-osx-tiger
I did NOT flush cache.

Next he had me disable Java on Firefox????

Switched back to Safari and still got the script void error

Enabled Java on FireFox

Quit FireFox

Restarted the computer

At this point Fire Fox has answered my problem so I:
Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes Default nothing happened I have no idea why they had me do this

After many attempts restarted FireFox in a Safe Mode

I got a whole bunch of options and didn’t know which to pick so I just hit continue.
At this point the Just Answer Mac expert quit!

Help! I know I need a new Mac but I'm retired and on a pension and can't afford one and won't have anything except a Mac.

Who knows whats been changed???
Its the internet, you could spend months trying to fix your Mac for something that has been changed on the server end.
I'm sorry, there just isn't a lot of help.
Restart you Mac, Restart your Internet connection (and any switches, base stations etc), restart your AirPort if you're on wireless.

With a Mac that old many sites will slowly stop working, as they developers use newer technologies.
Wish I could do more but unless someone here has solved it, there is little you can do.

It looks like this is a paid service so contact them directly.

Thank you for your reply. I've been suspecting for several months that it just might be my old Mac that can't keep up anymore. Think I'll reboot my modem. That's about the only thing I haven't tried. It was a paid service but when they couldn't help me they didn't charge me.
