My macbook keeps breaking...

My keyboard broke, replaced it.
My battery started to expand, replaced it.

Now it wont turn on. I ran single user mode, and got that the hard drive could not be fixed, or whatever the message said. So the drive is dead... ?

I installed a version of OSX onto an external and ran the computer off of that (my CD rom is also broken... someone put 2 discs in it...)

It booted up fine and I was even able to see my old files on the internal hard drive. I began to move those files (pictures et cetera) to another drive, when the computer began to shut off. It now just powers off at random. I ran consul before it turned off and I was able to copy/email myself the message. Can someone help me with what could be the problem?

Note the install is called poops (don't know why) and I was using the OSX disc from my new mac mini I just got. The macbook is the 2.0ghz version.

Sounds like its had a long hard life.

What made you think it would run properly off a Mac-mini boot disk?

You should have started up in Target Mode and used your Mini to get your files.

This sounds like it had liquid, probably lemonade, spilt on it at sometime and its finally on its way out.

ok... thanks for the useful help.

No to the lemon aid spill... good guess though.

tried the mac mini disc because thats the only osx disc I could find, I didn't realize that would be a problem.

didnt know about target mode so I didnt try it.

Can anyone else help in a useful matter? I apologize in advance for not knowing whats wrong and for not knowing what to do, and for that matter for having to go on a message board and asking for help.

thanks
