transfering AOL saved email from flash drive to PFC

I am running OS 10.4.11 and using AOL OSX.

I was exploring switching to gmail, and a friend transferred some Saved email to gmail account. Unfortunately it is no longer in my AOL PFC, BUT, I had backed it up on a flash drive beforehand.

How do I get that email restored to my PFC from flash drive?

Also, I found out to my horror that when you use gmail's Import set up to move email from AOL to gmail it empties the AOL mailbox and continues to kidnap all incoming mail. That is not the gradual process I imagined.

Thanks for your help.

Is there any way you can import them back into AOL, I would imagine thats the only thing that would read them.

One of the Great things with good old Mail is you can get at the files in a standard MBox format.
