Internet Connection "Frustrated"

I have a Mac Book and loose internet connection frequently. I don't think my service provider, AT&T, is the problem because I also have an I Pad2 and it never looses connection. I am running OS X 10.8.6 and use a 2Wire834 wireless router. How can I fix this problem?

You could start by using http://www.netspotapp.com/ to get some idea of the signal strength. The iPad has a different WiFi chip so that doesn't mean your router is fine on the other channels.
