Printer stop working

I have a Pixma iP4200 printer connected to airport supreme by USB, it was working well for couple years. Now it tells me is offline. I call Canon and apple, they tell me they can not help me.
I would appreciate if any body can tell me what I can do.

Start at the printer, plug it directly into the Mac and ensure it still prints.

Thanks Kaveman, the printer works when it is connected directly to the computer

Next run AirPort Utility in Utilities and select the AirPort Extreme, this will tell you if there are any updates pending. If so do the updates.
