OS 9 Kernel panic

Hi there, I have a G3 iMac and it has 9.2.2 on it and the proper firmware (4.1.9 or whatever it is) and I'm trying to get 10.3 on it. I have the white OS discs and when I put them in they register in OS 9 just fine. When I restart the computer though the white apple screen comes up but then a kernel panic happens and I don't understand why.
Any thoughts?
