NEED HELP - OpenOffice.org will not quit, open or forcequit.

Hi-
I tried to open one of my OO.org .odt documents and nothing happened except for the "open" indicator dot appearing under OO.org in the Dock. OO.org will not ForceQuit (either by keystroke command or the right-click menu at the Dock) and, of course, there's no restarting or shutting-down of the Mac with OO.org "not responding." OO.org 3.0.0 [300m6(Build:9352)] has been on my Mac for a year-and-a-half now and although it's been pokey at times, it's never done this before.

I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to get OO.org to respond and/or suggestions for a low-cost (yet sturdy) WP app for OSX. Thanks.
